  1. Product is as advertised. Easy to setup and has worked

Flawlessly since I set it up. Highly recommend.

Great unit – Does what is claims, unfortunately the DLNA feature was not compaitble with any of my devices so you may want to check out device compatibility before you purchase.

I have to sync data between several home computers and wanted to do so without necessarily having to have all or any pair of computers powered up at the time of synchronization.

Setting up the Buffalo NAS was much easier than I had expected. In addtion, I connected a USB printer into it and now have a network printer.

I also set up a web folder for receiving large files such as videos from people I give the password to. This was a little harder to accomplish, but not beyond the average person’s skills, provided you know how to set up your router for Web applications and games.

The disk is surprisingly small and good-looking. I love it.

This is an amazing product for the price. It’s quiet, compact, attractive, energy efficient and runs cool. Most importantly, it runs GREAT as a DNLA server when paired with the Samsung LED UN46B7000. Before making this purchase, I was having problems with video aspect ratios when using Windows 7’s DNLA server with my LED TV (known issue discussed all over the web); but with this little puppy, I am able to access all my video libraries without a PC and all videos appear on screen beautiful and correct – no jitter or pixilation.

Setup is seriously easy. The Windows app is quirky, but it’s unnecessary as everything is controlled from the NAS’s internal webpage. The WebAccess feature is pretty basic, but it’s enough to access files remotely.

I decided to purchase Buffalo LinkStation Pro versus WD My World Book Ed. due to

    – proven DNLA support

    – Web access is free

    – No DRM on my media

    – Stable OS

    Very happy with this purchase.

All I wanted was media and document backup and storage that I could access remotely. The set up of this product is most cumbersome and I’ve spent a week so far working on getting this product to do what it’s supposed to do. The instructions are sketchy at best and I’ve had to rely on user forums and web searches to find solutions to things that just make no sense. Setting up web access asks for passwords and user ID’s that I haven’t even created and can’t find to get past the screens. Setting up user accounts override the passwords that I’ve selected with passwords that are hidden making the user account inacesable. The I Tunes server is useless as far as I can tell with no ability to do anything other than copy all of your I Tunes files to it and play from the same pc that you copied them from to begin with. You can not manage the files from the Linkstation window.

All of the marketing for this product talks about the ease of use and set up but I’ve found this to not be the case at all. I am somewhat tech savy but this has stretched the limits of my knowledge and has been a big waste of time. So in the end I have a $200 external hard drive.
