I have been cut off 3 times waiting for tech support. XP does NOT work well with this product. I shut off the firewall and it still won’t load. I would not buy this product again.

Easy to setup; Flawless in its operation; Inexpensive; Quiet and it does just what it advertises.

Would not work with my Mac home system. Sometimes shares would appear and other times gone. I may have a previously returned item as mine didn’t appear new and was poorly packed.

    ***Update***

I didn’t mention that when I first purchased this item it took a bit to get it to grab an IP address. I had to plug it into my Airport Extreme Basestation, no go. Plug it into my MacBook Pro, after a very long time(not just minutes), the light on the front stopped blinking(meaning it had an IP), but the MacBook Pro couldn’t see it. Then I plugged it into my Windows machine, and it worked. It stayed up for a few weeks, and then I had a power outage(meaning it had to restart). When I turned it back on, it wouldn’t get an IP. I went back and forth with Buffalo support via e-mail, and eventually(after about a week and a half of e-mails) got an RMA. They DID get me back a unit in a week, which I thought was pretty fast. The new one is working fine now. I did have to write my own backup scripts on the MacBook Pro though(still no Time Machine). All in all….I would have rather bought a Time Capsule or something else. Especially since this has already gotten cheaper now!

    ***Original Review***

Great deal for 1 TB NAS storage. I have it plugged into an Airport Extreme Basestation. I am able to move files to it from my MAC or from my PC without any trouble. I can play Video off of it on my MacBook Pro pretty well. It gets jumpy once in a while on wireless. I mainly bought this for backups though, so it’s ok. Disappointed it doesn’t work with Time Machine, even after the update that came out last week(update from Apple, not Buffalo). I will have to write my own scripts to do back ups.

The Linkstation Pro Duo has done everything as promised. The instructions could be a bit more clear and I needed to forward ports to get the web access working, but with a little patience it works wonderfully. I can now access my files remotely and I have plenty of storage space. I set it up in a RAID-1 format, it’s great knowing my files are automatically backed up at all times on the second drive. I tried a few drives before purchasing this one and it’s by far the best of the ones I tested out.
